Stichting Goede Mensen
The Goede Mensen Foundation, which is based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, donated in excess of R800,000 towards the construction of the new building for the Educare Centre plus the necessary facilities such as fire equipment and the development of the playground area.
Whiston Willis Community Primary School
Since the establishment of the Charity in 2005, the children and staff of Whiston Willis Community Primary School, under the leadership of Headteacher Elaine Maloney, have made an enormous contribution to the Charity every year by collecting pennies and by donating their clothing, toys, stationery and toiletries for the children at the Educare Centre.
Allanson Street Primary School
Under the leadership of headteacher Chris Maloney and subsequent headteachers, Patricia Farnell and Lynsey Dingsdale, the children and staff of Allanson Street Primary School have made an enormous contribution to the Charity by donating their clothing, toys, stationery and toiletries. This support continues through the provision of resources and the donation of funds.
The Brand Power Company
Since 2010, The Brand Power Company (formerly the Buchanan Group) has donated R1,500 per month towards food for the children.
ADT Security (Pty) Ltd
ADT Security donated a new alarm system to The Angel Starfish Educare Centre and also provides free monitoring and armed response services.
The Rotary Club Of Hout Bay
The Rotary Club of Hout Bay supports The Angel Starfish Educare Centre through the regular donation of porridge for the children as part of its e’Pap feeding programme.
Love In A Bowl
The Educare Centre provides two meals a day to 150 children, which costs in the region of R8,000 per month. Love-in-a-Bowl helps to reduce that cost by providing fresh vegetables for the children every week.
African Ample Assistance
Mr Jaap Kreeftenberg, Managing Director of African Ample Assistance (AAA Travel), has supported the Educare Centre for many years, both with donations and by introducing new donors to us for a variety of projects requiring funding.
John F. Janssen Stichting
The John F. Janssen Foundation, which is based in The Netherlands, donated R24,000 to the Educare Centre for the enclosure of the verandah area to keep the children warm, dry and safe throughout the year and a further R60,000 for general building maintenance and administrative expenses.
Peter Staudacher & Friends
Peter Staudacher and his friends from Switzerland and Germany viz. Carsten Grossmann, Ulrike Schramm & Nandita Schwalbe, contribute an amazing amount of R4,000 per month towards food for the children plus they fund specific items needed, such as a photocopier.
Margaret Morton
The Angel Starfish Project Charity was extremely fortunate and grateful to be nominated as one of the beneficiaries in the Will of the late Margaret Morton of Ayrshire, Scotland. Her kindness and generosity will always be remembered.
TUNZA
Ian and Mark, who are “Tunza”, have been involved with The Angel Starfish Project for several years. Tunza are so thoughtful towards the charity and have raised hundreds of pounds that have helped towards the new building and the resources that the children so desperately need.
St Helens Rugby Football Club
The St Helens Rugby League Club has given us lots of merchandise which we were able to raffle in order to raise funds for the children at our Educare Centre.
Liverpool Football Club
The community department of the Liverpool Football Club has donated a variety of sporting goods to our Project which we were able to raffle in order to raise funds. It has also donated football boots and kits to children in the Hout Bay community and has sent coaches out to assist local schools.
Wrap Up Web
We are extremely grateful to Wrap up Web, and Richard Wootton in particular, for the pro bono construction and hosting of this website, plus the ongoing support provided in its growth and development.
Real 5 Networking
Members of the Real 5 business network group have provided funding for teaching and learning resources as well as food for the children at the Educare Centre. They also continue to support our clothing recycling project which brings in much-needed funds.
St Bartholomew’s Catholic Primary School
The children of St Bartholomew’s Catholic Primary School have given us great support through the school’s Mini Vinnie social awareness programme and they have also supported our recycling project.
Camps Bay Primary School
Children from the Foundation Phase (Grades R – 3) of Camps Bay Preparatory School raised an amazing amount of R8,795 for the purchase of much-needed resources for the classrooms.
Merseyside Society for Deaf People
A group of lovely ladies from the Merseyside Society for Deaf People very kindly donated £5,000 for the refurbishment of the kitchen at the Educare Centre and the presentation of two cooking courses for the parents of the children.
John Skeaping
Mr John Skeaping very kindly donated £200 towards the purchase of noticeboards for the classrooms at the Educare Centre.
Virginia Griffin
Apart from putting in a lot of time and effort for the Charity, Mrs Virginia Griffin has very kindly donated a bench for the playground at the Educare Centre and an electric wheelchair for a disabled member of staff.
DG Murray Trust
The DG Murray Trust very kindly agreed to our request for a grant of R12,500 for the purchase of stationery for the children and teaching resources.
Western Cape Education Department
The Western Cape Education Department provides financial assistance for Grade R which includes tuition costs, teaching and learning resources and operational costs. They have also recently provided some new playground equipment and repaired equipment that was broken.
Spirit Arc
We are extremely grateful to Mary and all our friends at Spirit Arc for holding and supporting several fundraising events for the children.
